Lachlan Massey

Conductor

Lachlan Massey is an Australian conductor. He studied classical voice at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (The University of Sydney). Lachlan conducts for the Sydney Children’s Choir, working under Lyn Williams AM and Sam Allchurch to prepare the choirs for concerts, tours and major national events.

Lachlan has composed and directed several operas for young audiences, most recently in a series at the Sydney Opera House Utzon Room. His operas as a composer include Pinocchio! (2018) and Hansel and Gretel (2021). Most recently, he directed a production of Malcolm Fox’s Sid the Serpent who Wanted to Sing (1976), and worked with Aija Draguns on the premiere of her children’s opera, Max and Moritz (2022). Lachlan has conducted for six Australian Prime Ministers and is a former Young Ambassador for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

For Sydney Children’s Choir, Lachlan conducts the Junior Performing Choir, William Barton Choir and Paul Stanhope Choir, and is Assistant Conductor for the Senior Choir.
