Coinciding with the festive season, the Sydney Children’s Choir has released a set of video premieres through YouTube. This magical selection was recorded at the Voices of Angels concerts at the City Recital Hall last year.

Il est né le divin enfant (Walker) – Gondwana Latitude 34 and Sydney Children’s Choir

Dan Walker’s arrangement of this traditional French Christmas carol alternates between buzzing excitement and hushed reverence telling the tale of the birth of Jesus.

Cradle Hymn (Arnesen) – The Sydney Children’s Choir

Norwgian composer Kim André Arnesen’s Cradle Hymn is a soothing lullaby with text by Isaac Watts, evoking images of Mary and the infant Christ, expressing the powerful love between mother and child. Performed as part of Voices of Angels at the City Recital Hall by the Sydney Children’s Choir, conducted by Lyn Williams.

 

Night of Silence – Silent Night (Kantor & Gruber) – Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Latitude 34

Daniel Kantor’s “Night of Silence” combines with Gruber’s original “Silent Night”, channelling themes of anticipation and reverence in a cool, Northern hemisphere Winter. Performed as part of Voices of Angels at the City Recital Hall by the Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Latitude 34, conducted by Lyn Williams.

 

Lullaby (Elder) – Gondwana Latitude 34

Daniel Elder’s work communicated a simple and heartfelt message of reassurance and comfort, evoking parental protection and loving support for those who have lost ones dear to them.
